What a serum should I choose ?

Choosing the right serum for you depends on your skin type. concernsif needs that your skin presents. There are several types of serums on the market, each formulated for specific problems.

First let's explain what a serum.

Serums are concentrated, high-performance formulas designed to address a specific concern and give your skin what it needs. They usually have fewer ingredients but they are designed to penetrate the skin well and perform their function efficiently.

There are several types of serums, so before making your choice it is important to define the problem that affects you and the result you want to have when using the serum, always taking into account your skin type.

EXFOLIATING

Skin exfoliation has numerous advantages, but people often mistakenly only know about physical exfoliation using traditional exfoliants with microspheres. The use of a serum rich in acids such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA) and/or acids such as glycolic, citric, mandelic, malic and lactic acids, which allow chemical exfoliation and promote the removal of dead cells and cell regeneration.

Segle Clinical AHA BHA Exfoliant It is a gentle exfoliant for all skin types that removes dead cells accumulated on the surface, evens out the skin texture and provides luminosity. It improves the appearance of enlarged pores and helps unclog them, preventing acne formation. The presence of AHA and BHA evens out the skin texture, while citric acid has an antioxidant action that protects the skin and promotes its natural glow.

ANTI-AGING

When we associate anti-aging with a serum, we automatically think of retinol, this is the main ingredient that is intended in an anti-aging serum, but why?

In a nutshell, retinol is a form of vitamin A that is known for its ability to help promote the regeneration of skin cells, build collagen and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, which is why it is considered one of the most effective anti-aging ingredients.

Segle  Clinical Pure Retinol combines anti-inflammatory ingredients, niacinamide and 2 types of retinoids, achieving superior anti-aging efficacy than pure retinol at 0.5%. Contains pure retinol at 0.3% which acts to reverse the main signs of aging and photoaging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, blemishes and dull skin tone. Improves skin texture and appearance and is effective in treating oily and acne-prone skin. The big surprise of this serum is the retinol  patented marine complex of liposomal carotenoids from microalgae Chlorella vulgaris with the same structure and mechanism of action as pure retinol, but without its skin sensitizing side effects.

MOISTURIZER

Hydrating serums are so named because they are designed to hydrate the skin. The presence of hyaluronic acid is common in these serums as it has a powerful moisturizing action and has the ability to attract and retain water in the skin.

Segle Clinical Blue Balance Serum is a moisturizing serum, rich in medium-chain hyaluronic acid that allows water retention and provides hydration, softness and protection to the most superficial layers of the skin.  It has a light texture and is quickly absorbed. It also contains 5% niacinamide with a high antioxidant power that improves the barrier function and stimulates the synthesis of ceramides,  which prevents transepidermal water loss.

Serums are usually used in our daily skin routine after cleansing and before moisturizing. There are some “general rules” regarding when to apply certain serums that contain specific ingredients. For example, serums with vitamin C are usually applied in the morning, while serums containing retinol should only be used at night due to their instability.

Before incorporating a new serum into your skincare routine, it’s essential to do a patch test and introduce it gradually to avoid irritation. Additionally, consider factors like your skin type (dry, oily, combination) and any specific skin concerns you’re trying to address.
