Beauty routine of 2021: what should even include

Is one of your resolutions for 2021 about taking better care of yourself? What better way to start than by taking care of the largest organ in your body - your skin!

To help you start the year off in true beauty, we'll give you some tips on the steps to include in your daily routine and the products recommended for each skin type, according to their formulation and texture.

Shall we do this?

Let’s start this journey into the world of beauty from the beginning. If you don’t have the habit of taking care of your skin, or even if you do, you should know that there are 3 essential steps:

1. Cleaning         2. Hydration          3. Sun Protection

In addition to these steps, which you should never neglect, you can also use:

- Tonic or Essence;

- Serum;

- Eye Contour;

- Exfoliating;

- Mask.

CLEANING

Cleansing should be done twice a day and is an essential step, even if you don't wear makeup, as this step eliminates dirt from the skin related to pollution, applied products, sebum production and dead cells.

Proper and thorough cleansing with products suitable for your skin type and/or makeup type minimizes the risk of acne developing, improves skin texture and promotes the penetration of the products you apply afterwards.

You should choose the texture of your cleansing products according to your skin type and/or makeup type:

- Oily to Combination Skin: Choose gel or foam as they do not leave residue. Some cleansing oils, depending on their composition, can also be used on this type of skin.

- Dry Skin: Choose milk, cream or cleansing oil textures, which leave the skin more comfortable without stripping it too much.

If you use high coverage and/or waterproof makeup or very resistant sunscreens, you should double or triple cleanse with:

1. Two-phase makeup remover (for eyes, for example, if you use waterproof mascara).
2. Cleansing Oil
3. Cleansing Balm

HYDRATION

You should apply your moisturizer after cleansing your face, in the morning before applying sunscreen and at night.

The main function of moisturizing cream is to increase water content and the skin's ability to retain it – through humectants –, while preventing its evaporation by forming an occlusive layer.

It may also contain other components in the formula, such as vitamins, antioxidants, sedatives, prebiotics, among others.

SUN PROTECTION

Never forget the golden rule: sunscreen every day! In the morning, after cleansing your skin, after moisturizing or instead of it, it should be part of your routine every day this year!

You should choose one with high UV protection (SPF of at least 30, but ideally 50 to ensure greater protection against UVA radiation). Additionally, it should also provide protection against infrared and blue light.

If it's not a sunny day and you don't go outside, you don't need to apply it, right? Wrong! You should apply it even at home and in the office, both because of the percentage of solar radiation that enters and because of the blue light from lamps and the screens on your computer and cell phone.

In addition to protecting against radiation, sunscreen prevents signs of aging such as wrinkles, loss of firmness, blemishes and the worsening of acne marks and wounds or scars.

Its texture should be chosen according to your skin type. Pay attention to the labeling of your sunscreen:

Skin Type

Labeling

Emulsion, Fluid, “Light”, “Matte” or “Dry Touch”

Dry Skin Cream, Balm, “Rich”, “Nourishing”

It is worth mentioning that this routine may not be enough for everyone. In some cases, it may need to be supplemented, as the various steps to be included depend on the condition of your skin, any associated pathology and even the season of the year!
