Enolin prevents the loss of liver cell constituents and limits the entry into the hepatocyte of hepatotoxic substances. Increased protein synthesis in the liver leads to the regeneration of liver cells, very useful in situations of cirrhosis or hepatic steatosis. When used daily, silymarin has been shown to decrease gastroesophageal reflux, being useful in situations of indigestion and dyspepsia.
